A booklet on the ‘History of Methodism in Patricroft’ by Alan Cantwell has been published. (Alan is a Member at Patricroft.) Period covered - 1733 to 2012. The 40 page A4 booklet costs only £4, and contains articles and photographs about all the individual churches which now make up Patricroft Methodist Church. Several contributions by members of the original churches are included. Other information regarding the booklet and sales can be obtained by e-mailing Alan.
A new book celebrating 100 years of performances of ‘Messiah’ in Glazebrook has been published. There are several contributors, with plenty of personal stories and photographs, including one of Dame Isobel Baillie, who sang the soprano solos there in 1943. Cost £5 for the 133 page A5 size book.
The Vice-President of the Methodist Conference, Gill Dascombe led an evening service at Monton in February 2015.
An Ordination
Rev. David Emison was Minister at Patricroft from 1976 to 1983. He was there with wife, Vivienne, and sons Andrew and Philip. We are pleased to congratulate Andrew on his Ordination into the Methodist Church at the Methodist Conference in Coventry (2014)
Emmanuel - Dedication Service
The Dedication Service for the new worship space at Emmanuel was on Saturday, 4th of July 2015.
The Service was led by Rev. Keith Davies (Chairman of the Manchester and Stockport District) and Bishop Chris Edmondson of Bolton.
Service to celebrate the life of Worsley Road Church, which closed in 2014
A Circuit Mission event was held at Monton in October 2015. The event was led by Rev. Rod Hill. The work of the Circuit was reviewed, and discussions took place to consider our future mission. Each Church had a display of its current mission and outreach activities.
Welcome
At the beginning of the new Methodist year (September 2015), we welcomed Rev. Clare Stainsby into the Circuit. Clare came from her previous churches in Scarborough, and has pastoral charge of 5 of our Circuit Churches - Patricroft, Boundary Road, Wesley, Glazebrook and The Height. We look forward to her contributions to Circuit life.
